Golf & Sharing the Course with the Maintenance Team
By: Wayne Slaton, Golf Course Superintendent
As a golfer enters the parking lot before sunrise, they eagerly await first light while our Golf Course Maintenance (GCM) team begins mowing and setup for the day. Micah Drexler, Guest Services Attendant
Micah has been on the team at Crystal Falls for a little over a year. He has enjoyed getting to know the staff and our customers as well. Along with picking up golf, one of Micah’s hobbies is downhill mountain biking! He often rides in Burnet and has also traveled to New Mexico and California for bike parks. During high school, Micah attended the “One Day Academy” co-op program and plans to attend Austin Community College this fall.

Our May Madness event on May 12 featured our Greenskeeper’s Revenge format where our Golf Course Maintenance team relishes the opportunity to create an unappareled environment for participants.
Dennis Sokol and Rithy Khem were successful in avoiding the Revenge of the Greenskeepers on May 12 and took 1st place with a 2-stroke win over Cliff Ellis and Cody Price. The net competition was won by Richard Himmer and Nick Burton in a scorecard playoff over Philip Dodson and Ryan Brink. The Gross and Net Skins pool were each funded with $580 in golf shop merchandise gift cards. Richard and Nick won the only Gross Skin of the day with a birdie on # 18 and also picked up two net skins. Philip & Ryan got in on the net skins pool with a net eagle on 14, along with Nick Darling and Andrew Pace who had a double eagle on 12.
For the entire event, we awarded merchandise gift cards totaling over $2,200. If you won a gift card and were not able to stay for awards, stop into the Golf Shop to pick it up. See the full leaderboard
