Goosegrass – A Golf Course Battle

Goosegrass you say! What kind of weed is that? Goosegrass is a very invasive weed that can slowly take over many of the high traffic areas of a golf course, such as the walk-up areas of tees, greens and even fairways. A single goosegrass plant can produce 120,000 seeds! Some miss identify goosegrass and call it crabgrass. Crabgrass is a wider blade, lime green looking weed that will grow in greens, tees, fairways and rough as well. If these weeds go unchecked without a pre-emergent and post emergent treatment plan, they can take over a golf course and affect all turf surfaces. Some of….

Matt is our dedicated irrigation technician, having worked in the landscaping industry since 2018. On the course, his favorite challenge is to troubleshoot and fix electrical and plumbing issues in our irrigation systems. When he’s not on the job, you can find him mountain biking or riding his motorcycle, or outdoors with his four daughters, fishing, hiking or camping, He loves being out in nature, and Crystal Falls is his happy place.

This August 3rd 2-person scramble was a great competition with Keith Kosh and Chad Schutte going home in 1st place in a scorecard tiebreaker over Dennis Sokol and Rithy Khem. Both teams finished with a 62; however, Keith and Chad bested Dennis and Rithy by 1 stroke on the back 9 to take the honors and the coveted Summer ParTee First Place Tumblers! All participants received 3 points in the Crystal Cup Standings, with an additional point to those who won a Closest to Pin, skin or net skin. Top 7 finishers on both gross and net were awarded bonus points toward the eligibility to participate in the Crystal Cup Invitational.
