Central Texas Overseeded Greens Transition and Expectations

The welcome color of green grass on putting surfaces and lush turf to hit from on the tees and fairways in Central Texas?  Yes!  Yet you will have to take a calculated risk on the long-term success of our decision to overseed these areas of the golf course for winter golf.  After the joy of 6-7 months during winter to spring to summer, playing on these overseeded areas late May to June, it’s time for the poa triv and the perennial rye grass to fade away with the upcoming Central Texas 90 plus degree temperatures.  This will take time ….

Par 3 Challenge
On April 13th we set the course with 19 par 3 holes for golfers to compete in the Par 3 Challenge.    Guy Charles & Otis Thorpe finished 1 under par with a one shot win over Teddy Wheeler & Dennis Sokol.

Tim Wilks and Gary Ingram took home the top honors in the net competition.   The Gross and Net Skins Pool were each funded with $350.  Four teams split 5 skins on the gross side, with 4 teams dividing up four net skins.  The 4 Closest to the Pin winners each received a Swannies golf hat.
