Recovering Our Greens After Overseeding

Our greens are now 37 years old this month.  We have been overseeding our greens every year for the last 23 years.  The transition from the winter overseed to our base turf, Tif-Dwarf, continues to be a challenge here in Central Texas, especially with this year’s weather pattern. The weather here is always variable, and we adjust  our greenskeeping practices the best we can to keep our greens rolling smooth.  Often, golfers do not understand that transition is the stress removal of the winter overseeded turf for the base turf of hybrid Bermudagrass Tif-Dwarf to grow and fill back in where the overseed was.  The transition is going take time and a little look of tan/yellowing. This is where vertical cutting, topdressing, fertilizer applications, and solid tine cultural practices are very important  ….

Trifecta

The team of Dennis Sokol & Rithy Khem took home 1st place in our June 8 Trifecta golf tournament, a 6-6-6 format event.  Hal Johnson & Bill Wiemann completed the day as the top net team.  The Gross and Net Skins Pool were each funded with $395.  Four teams split 6 skins on the gross side, with 5 teams dividing up eight net skins. The 4 Closest to the Pin winners each received a hat from the golf shop. Leaderboard

Independence Open

Congratulations to Scott Charvet and Justin Huskisson, the 1st place team in the June 29 Independence Open, who finished with a 3 stroke win.  The top 5 teams went home with some spending credit in the golf shop at Crystal Falls Golf Club.   This event had $485 in the skins pot with 7 skins won on the day.  Leaderboard
