If you are someone who consistently posts 90+ strokes per round, please know that does NOT mean you aren’t good at golf! Please stop telling yourself or others that you “aren’t any good”.

By: Wayne Slaton, Golf Course Superintendent
I understand that golf is a game where sometimes the golf ball will not find the bottom of the cup. Why do others have to take out their frustration by slamming their putter to the green, or even worse, taking a divot out of a green?
While the frustrated golfer does not find the bottom of the cup, it does no good to take a divot or inflict damage by slamming a putter to the green. | Our 2026 Crystal Cup series kicked off with the Polar Bear Open on January 12th. Taking 1st Place was the team of Gary Ingram and Tim Wilks who combined for an 11 under, 61. The low net was won by Noah Longino and David Sabino with a 12 under, 60. The tournament included Closest to the Pin contests on each of the par 3’s with Cliff Ellis, Ken Rozacky, and Rithy Khem (2) taking the honors, and each received 4 tickets to an upcoming Texas Stars home game at the H-E-B Center. We allocated $5 for each paid entry to the Gross Skins Pool; and $5 to the Net Skins Pool. Both were funded with $580! Three teams split the Net Skins Pool and we didn’t have any outright Gross Skins. The $580 Gross Skins Pool will roll over to the February Stableford Shamble. Review the final Polar Bear Leaderboard. Check out our Facebook page for pictures from the Polar Bear Open and other events. Don’t miss the February 9th Stableford Shamble where we expect the Gross Skins Pool will be over $1,000!.
