Mental Game Focus: Stay in the present moment, focusing only on the current shot rather than the overall score. Staying present in the moment will result in better scores and ultimately more enjoyment while playing the game.
On Course Strategy: Use the “7 out of 10” rule: never attempt a shot you cannot successfully pull off at least 7 times out of 10. Playing shots that you are confident in will result in more confident swings, thus producing better results.
Turfgrass Irrigation A Supplementation Between Rains

As we know here at our golf course, rain is the best thing for any turf grass. Unfortunately, here in Central Texas we seem to get too much or too little rain; therefore, we need irrigation to be supplemented to keep the health of the turf grass and our playing conditions until the next rain. That next rain as we know can sometimes feel like it will never rain again. The drought of 2011 was something to be seen at our golf course. Back then we had dependency on well water and supplementation of some potable water believe it or not. ….

| The February 9th Stableford Shamble was the second event in our 2026 Crystal Cup series. Congratulations to the overall winning team of Dennis Sokol and Rithy Khem who won in a scorecard playoff over Tim Wilks and Gary Ingram. Derek Jones and Ron Watson took home the top honors in the net competition. The Gross Skins Pool included $580 that rolled over from January’s Polar Bear Open, and we allocated $5 for each paid Stableford entry to the Gross Skins Pool; and $5 to the Net Skins pool. Four teams split the $1,170* Gross Skins Pool with 3 teams dividing up the $590* Net Skins Pool. Shawn Newberg, Bryan Phillips, Tracey Calloway, Cliff Ellis were the Closet to the Pin winners and each received four tickets to an upcoming Texas Stars home game at the H-E-B Center. All players received 3 participation points in the 2026 Crystal Cup season standings with 1 additional point going to those who won a skin, net skin or CTP.
